Brian from Detail Werkz Dallas shows us how to clean a vintage 1972 Mustang engine that has been in storage for over 10 years. Using Big Green Bruce, Shine Guard and a Kranzle pressure washer and a little agitation and buffing with a micro fiber towel, the engine looks as close to new with out doing a full restorations.

Hey, what's up? Dirt Killer family it is Brian at Detail Werkz Dallas. We're in beautiful Dallas, Texas. We have great sun today and look what we got here. This car has been sitting in a barn slash warehouse for 10 years. It's a 72 Mustang. You can look at the motor right now. It looks pretty grimy. Dusty. It's been neglected for 10 years. So we we are going to do is we're going to take some Dirt Killer. We're going to be using the Big Green Bruce. We're going to do a 50 / 50 mix of it with some water. We're going to use a pump spray bottle. It's probably the best application for a motor of this year and age, just due to electronics and just weirdness that could, be damaged if you used like a foamer or some other type of a more pressurized a sprayer. So what we're going to do is we're going to spray it with this little thing right here. It kind of mist it out. We're going to spray the motor. We're going to let it sit for a little bit. And then we're going to do some agitation with some brushes and stuff, and then we're going to blast it with some water. And then, get it cleaned up a little bit. So sit back and enjoy the show

So as you can see, the big greens kind of broke apart. Some of this dirt, you can see it down here sitting. This is just a bunch of grime that the Big Green Bruce just broke apart. So not much effort at all just to

Go around light agitation. That's it.

So if you could look right here, the spark plug wires, we didn't even really agitate them very much. We just hit it with some high pressure water and the Big Old Green man. It really, really made them look brand new. Hey, so what'd you think of that? Pretty cool. Huh? Basically we just did a 50, 50 dilution of the, a Big Green Bruce and some water sprayed it on the motor. Let it sit for about 30 to 60 seconds and agitated it with some brushes and it hit it with some water again and blasted it off and already. It looks really, really good. So we're going to let that dry just a little bit. And then we're going to come back with our Shine Guard and we're going to spray that on the motor. Let it be very heavily sprayed on there. Then we're gonna run the motor for about five to 10 minutes and let it kind of just burn and heat up and everything, wipe it down very naturally and see how we look by that time. So let's see what it looks like. Oh, smell that nice cherry scent too. All right. So you want to shut your hood because you want that heat to kind of go around almost like a barbecue grill. Let it kind of bake in there a little bit. So we're about to start the car. We're gonna let it run for about maybe five minutes and see how she looks

All right. So we've been letting this run for about five minutes. We just popped the hood. You can already tell this is pretty good. So we're just gonna come in with a microfiber towel. We're just gonna try to buff everything we possibly can reach just to give it more of a natural look and not a greasy look. All right. That looks pretty good. It's not going to be a show ready, but this is perfect for someone who's just trying to sell their car and make it look, you know, like new as possible.
